Faculty brass quintet to perform.

Four concerts, including two faculty recitals, are scheduled this week at the University of Oregon School of Music, 961 E. 18th Ave.

Oregon Brass Quintet

Monday, Beall Concert Hall

The Oregon Brass Quintet will play Quintet No. 3 by Victor Ewald, Centone No. V by Samuel Scheidt, Pavane by Gabriel Faure, "The Casbah of Tetouan" by Kerry Turner, Antonin Dvorak's Humoresque and G.F. Handel's "Sound an Alarm" from "Judas Maccabaeus" in a Faculty Artist Series recital Monday.

The quintet consists of George Recker and Stephen Dunn, trumpets; Ellen Campbell, horn; Jeffrey Williams, trombone; and Michael Grose, tuba.

The concert starts at 8 p.m. in Beall Concert Hall.

Tickets, available at the door, are $9 general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens.

Charles Turley

Tuesday, Beall Hall

New voice professor Charles Turley will sing "The Songs of Travel" by Ralph Vaughan Williams, "Histoires naturelles" by Maurice Ravel and "Men With Small Heads," a recent group of songs by Lori Laitman, in a Faculty Artist Series recital on Tuesday.

New faculty pianist David Riley will be the accompanist.

Turley, a baritone, appeared last month as Dr. Falke in Eugene Opera's production of "Die Fledermaus."

A two-time regional finalist in the Met Auditions, Turley has sung more than 35 operatic roles since 1994, including Marcello (``La Boheme''), Figaro (``Il barbiere di Siviglia''), Sid (``Albert Herring''), Gianni (``Gianni Schicchi''), Germont (``La Traviata''), Guglielmo (``Cosi fan tutte'') and Escamillo (``Carmen'').

The recital begins at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall. Tickets, available at the door, are $9 general admission and $5 for students and senior citizens.

Oregon Wind Ensemble

Wednesday, Beall Hall

The Oregon Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Robert Ponto, will play Septet for Winds by Paul Hindemith, Scherzo alla Marcia by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Masque by Kenneth Hesketh and the world premiere of ``Fanfares'' by Armando Bayolo in a concert Wednesday.

The performance begins at 8 p.m. in Beall Hall.

Tickets, available at the door, are $5 general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens.

Art song recital

Thursday, Beall Hall

Graduate and undergraduate voice majors will sing art songs from various periods and in varied styles in a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Beall Hall.

The performers will be the students of voice faculty members Ann Tedards, Milagro Vargas, Eric Mentzel and Charles Turley.
