Facial recognition access control.

HID Corporation of Irvine, California, and Image Metrics of Oakland, California, have combined their technologies to provide secure access control with a small price tag. Image Metrics FACE400 software reduces a facial image to 400 bytes for storage on an HID iCLASS contactless smart card. The photo-grade image can then be viewed on a conventional computer monitor. The resulting credential provides corporations with a portable database that is scalable to large systems with unlimited populations and multiple sites. Image input can be industry-standard JPEG or bitmap files produced by low-cost video cameras. 827
