FUTURE MEDICAL PRODUCTS, INC. TESTS OF BUTYLUREA AS VIRUCIDE IMPREGNATED IN LATEX GLOVES SUCCESSFUL

HAUPPAUGE, N.Y., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Future Medical Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: FMPI), today announced that Butylurea (BU), a member of the alkylurea group of chemicals, was coupled to surgical latex gloves in a patented methodology allowing its immediate and protracted release upon contact with body fluids containing the AIDS virus.
Studies with glove prototypes have been completed successfully, showing that predetermined doses of BU resulted in 100 percent kill of free AIDS virus and AIDS virus in white blood cells. Toxicology studies of the AIDS inhibitor were successfully completed in an FDA-approved independent or sensitization and no mucosal (eye, vagina) irritation.
FMPI, which owns the rights to BU antiviral potency, is aggressively pursuing strategic alliances with pharmaceutical companies concerning BU.
