f you're looking to add a new lease of life to your summer wardrobe, a kimono could be the answer.
Inspired by traditional Japanese robes, contemporary kimonos have been given a modern update, complete with prints, fringing and varying lengths - more than enough to give any outfit a cool, boho vibe.
But if you're not used to styling these unusual pieces, it might feel a little daunting to give it a go.
However, if you think they're only appropriate for music festivals, it's time think again.
Kimonos can be worn with just about anything in your wardrobe, from skinny jeans and heels or layered over a mini dress for a fun summer look.
Both long and short kimono styles tend to come with lots of fabric and draping, so the easiest way to incorporate them into an outfit is to let them do the talking and keep the rest of your outfit simple.
Jeans and a white T-shirt is as simple as it gets, and this easy outfit is a great way to get a feel for kimonos if you're a little nervous about this trend.
However, just like blazers and cardigans, the kimono can be dressed up or down.
Try it with a fitted dress to offset the flowy nature of the kimono and add a pair of heels for a smart evening look.
You can even try this look for the office by pairing it with a crisp white shirt and smart black trousers.
Whichever way you choose, the kimono will be your new summer staple.
