FULCRUM TO LIGHT UP VEGAS WITH LED SOLUTIONS.
At the show, Fulcrum will launch the Readers Friend brand that incorporates several light-emitting diodes into task lights, book lights, utility lights and other problem-solvers. LEDs are very small, long-lasting and energy-saving, but until now the light hasn't been bright enough to market as a reading light.
Using a new LED technology that provides what President Roger Z. Kaufman describes as "super-bright light," Fulcrum's LED products are brighter, glare-free and don't produce hot spots, he said. Fulcrum has applied this technology to a card magnifier light, a flexible-arm clip-on book light, a flexible-arm clip-on magnifier light, a flashlight with power crank and a tap light with multiple functions.
"Where LED is being used, it's very 'glarey' and has hot spots. We've got nice, clean, clear, readable light," Kaufman added.
Kaufman said he has the highest expectations for the LED Tap Light, because it's so functional. Fulcrum's version is adjustable, directional and adheres well to any surface, but can be detached and moved, he said. It features two LEDs and is powered by AAA batteries. It will retail at mass for a suggested $9.95, and be supported by graphic packaging and merchandising displays.
"This is just coming into the market for the first time and we are very jazzed up about this, given its widespread applications," Kaufman said. "We're showing it to people in the industry, against what's out there, and they're asking us when they can have it, not how much [it costs].
The other products will retail for under $16, in a range of colors. Fulcrum expects to ship the products right after the show.
