FTD AND M&M MARS COMBINE FUN AND VALUE TO CREATE
 BEWITCHING TREAT FOR HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS
SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Halloween is one of the most popular holidays in America and annually launches the traditional holiday season. In these tough economic times, Americans are entertaining friends and family at home more and more. With less time and tight purse strings, consumers are looking for easy and cost- effective ways to entertain at home, and are demanding lower costs and more value for the products they buy. In response to economic trends and consumer demands, the Florists' Transworld Delivery Association (FTD(R) and M&M Mars Candy have teamed up to create an innovative and inexpensive product to help consumers add spirit to Halloween celebrations.
"Halloween ranks second only to Christmas in holiday retail sales, and is the second-most popular adult party occasion of the year," said Ken Coley, president of FTD and owner of San Diego Flowers, San Diego, Calif. "We wanted to give consumers an affordable, fun way to decorate their homes for Halloween, and the FTD Halloween BOO-quet(tm) offers four great products all rolled into one affordable arrangement."
The FTD Halloween BOO-quet is a collection of autumn-hued flowers arranged in a decorative container that is designed to be re-used as a candy dish. The arrangement is accented with a packet of M&M's Plain Chocolate Candies, and is packaged in a decorative tote bag designed to be used by trick-or-treaters for neighboring visits.
According to Coley, the FTD Halloween BOO-quet is an appropriate holiday decoration for adults and children alike, and is also available for wire delivery for consumers who want to celebrate Halloween with family and friends across the miles.
FTD, headquartered just outside of Detroit in Southfield, was founded in 1910 by 15 retail florists who agreed to exchange orders for out-of-town floral deliveries, and today is owned and directed by more than 24,000 independent retail member florists in the United States and Canada. In the 1991-1992 fiscal year, Member Florists delivered nearly 20 million FTD flowers-by-wire orders which generated sales of just under $700 million.
