FSW INVESTMENT SERVICES OFFERS TEXAS-BASED FIXED-INCOME ASSET MANAGEMENT
DALLAS, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- First Southwest Company today announced the formation of FSW Investment Services, Inc., a Dallas-based affiliate. The new firm offers investment advisory services to government entities, institutions and high net worth individuals, specializing in fixed-income asset management.
FSW Investment Services is the first major initiative by First Southwest Company's owners since they purchased the firm late last year. The new affiliate was established to expand First Southwest Company's franchise into the asset management business. FSW Investment Services currently has commitments to manage $250 million in assets.
"We believe that public assets should be conservatively and appropriately managed," said Ken Lanyon, president and chief investment officer of the new firm. "FSW Investment Services focuses on high- quality, short to intermediate-term investments, with maturities not exceeding 10 years. Through fixed-income instruments such as these, as well as years of experience and dedication to the prudent management of investment funds, we offer solid solutions to the investment needs of government entities."
Lanyon brings 25 years' successful experience as a conservative investment advisor to his position. A native of Amarillo, he spent the majority of his career in Dallas with the investment advisory firm, Allianz Investment Corporation.
As executive vice president and senior investment officer, he managed the day-to-day investment activity for the North American subsidiaries of Allianz A.G. Holdings, Europe's largest insurance company and the world's sixth largest insurance company.
"Many investors prefer a conservative approach to asset management," said Lanyon. "Our basic investment philosophy is to select the highest- quality, lowest-risk investment that provides the greatest return potential for our clients' portfolios. Assets should be actively and prudently managed within guidelines set by the client."
"We think many investors in the region would prefer to do business with an established, locally based firm," said Robert K. Utley, III, chief executive officer of First Southwest Company. "We are strongly committed to our clients in the Southwest. FSW Investment Services has the full support and resources of First Southwest Company solidly behind it."
First Southwest Company is one of the oldest institutional investment banks in Texas.
