FROZEN PIZZA SALES ARE LITERALLY "OUT OF THIS WORLD" WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Frozen pizza consumption in
America is out of this world in more ways than one. According to the National Frozen Pizza Institute, more than 1.8 billion slices of frozen pizza are sold each year. In fact, if you were to take a year's worth of frozen pizza purchases and connect every slice together, the pizza would reach the moon and back more than 131 times -- that's 63,782,801 miles.
The frozen pizza industry has continued to grow in annual sales dollars by an average of seven percent per year. The National Frozen Pizza Institute, which represents 40 companies in the $1 billion frozen pizza industry, said studies have shown that frozen pizza is now America's favorite frozen food. Due to the frozen pizza's increased popularity, the National Frozen Pizza Institute designated January as National Frozen Pizza Month, which highlights accomplishments of the industry. As part of the January 1992 celebration, grocery store managers across the nation will set up frozen pizza displays in their frozen food section to encourage the growth of the nation's favorite food. -0- 1/6/92 /CONTACT: Rick Lyke of Eric Mower and Associates, 315-466-1000, for the National Frozen Pizza Institute/ CO: National Frozen Pizza Institute ST: Washington IN: FOD SU:
