FROM CHRISTMAS TO NEW YEAR; ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE.

The perfect time to enjoy a meal out PICTURE the scene . . . it's 9am New Year's Eve and you're enjoying a lie-in. There's a cup of tea on the bedside table and you're engrossed in a book you received at Christmas.

Can life get any better than that? Well, actually it can!

Instead of getting up an hour later and having a quick shower before making a start on the lunch, you could take a leisurely soak in the bath and then eat out.

Or you could opt for a light snack at home and then celebrate the arrival of 2006 in style in the evening, enjoying a meal out with family or friends.

It's a great alternative to preparing vegetables, putting the joint in the oven, making and baking a pie for dessert and laying the table - and then having to contend with a mountain of washing-up.

No wonder so many people these days are choosing to escape the heat of the kitchen and head for a pub, restaurant or hotel to see in the New Year. What could be better than relaxing while someone else does all the hard work.

Good company, attractive surroundings, a delicious meal, possibly a dance and some entertainment equals a fun-filled New Year's Eve. So put on your best party gear and have a ball.

Of course, it doesn't have to be New Year's Eve when you treat yourself to a meal out. New Year's Day is also a good time to get together with loved ones. Why not blow away the cobwebs with a country ramble, followed by a pub lunch.

Whatever you choose to do, remember - don't drink and drive. Stay safe and nominate a driver in your group who will stick to soft drinks. Or better still call a taxi.
