FRITZ AND AMDAHL ENTER INTO INTEGRATED LOGISTICS PARTNERSHIP

SAN FRANCISCO, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Amdahl Corp. (AMEX: AMH) has awarded Fritz Companies Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: FRTZ), a frontrunner in global integrated logistics services, their international freight forwarding business to Canada, South America and the Pacific Basin, effective June 1993, Fritz Companies said today. Amdahl, based in the Silicon Valley, designs, manufactures, markets and services large-scale, high- performance data processing systems. With 120 sales offices and 7,400 employees worldwide, Amdahl's product line includes large, general- purpose mainframe computers, data storage subsystems, data communications products and software.
Amdahl's objective is to build a strong partnership with one company who can handle all of their air export transportation needs to Canada, Australia, Brazil, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore and Thailand. Amdahl felt their service levels were jeopardized when they had to manage a large number of business partners.
After much deliberation, research and analysis, Fritz was selected because of its extensive office network in the Pacific Rim and its strong partner affiliations in Australia, Canada and South America. Commented Eileen Madden, manager, transportation services of Amdahl Corp., "We at Amdahl were very impressed with Fritz' responsiveness and replies throughout the International Freight Forwarding Bid Review Process. As such, Fritz has been selected as a company with whom we are anxious to work."
Eric Sanchez, Fritz national account executive in San Francisco who spearheaded the proposal process, explained, "We recognized and dissected Amdahl's needs and requirements for an effective integrated logistics program. We are confident that we will meet and exceed Amdahl's international transportation requirements. Our partnership will help Amdahl gain productivity as they concentrate on their core business, and leave their international transportation requirements to Fritz Companies."
Peter Mundt, Fritz Companies' air freight manager in San Francisco, was instrumental in organizing airfreight operational details to provide the most effective system for exporting equipment to the many destinations required by Amdahl. He noted, "This is only the first step. We intend to work continuously with Amdahl on process reviews and help them to improve their total logistics program worldwide."
Since its founding in 1933, Fritz' office network and scope of services have expanded tremendously to become a leader in providing worldwide transportation logistics services. As the first organization based in the United States that offers a full range of global integrated logistics services, Fritz Companies is a leader in assisting multinational corporations in reducing costs and improving their customer services by optimizing flows through a client's logistics pipeline.
