 FRITO-LAY AND MATTEL TEAM UP FOR BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROMOTION
 LOS ANGELES, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Frito-Lay and Mattel (NYSE: MAT) will launch a back-to-school promotion offering savings on several popular Mattel toys through coupons in Frito-Lay snack variety-packs.
 Mattel products will be prominently displayed on 11 million Frito-Lay variety-pack boxes and on point-of-sale materials in supermarkets and mass merchandise stores throughout the country. Consumers will receive instantly redeemable coupons for savings ranging from $.50 to $1 on Magic Nursery Tiny Wonders dolls, Disney Pinocchio stuffed toys, Nickelodeon Slime, the Barbie Porsche Cabriolet accessory and sport-toys from Aviva Sports. The promotion will begin in late August and run through the month of September.
 "The average consumer goes to a supermarket 20 to 25 times a year, but only goes to a toy store seven to 10 times a year," says Richard G. De Herder, Mattel's vice president, consumer promotions and marketing services. "This kind of promotional exposure in supermarkets offers the opportunity to reach customers at least twice and perhaps three times as frequently."
