THE MERRY WIDOW Opera Bohemia is celebrating its 10th birthday this year by undertaking its biggest ever tour and presenting a special production of Franz Lehar's much-loved operetta, The Merry Widow. Over the next few days, the all-action, colourful musical can be seen in Boat of Garten, Strathpeffer and Thurso.

This is the first time the operetta has been performed professionally in Scotland for more than 10 years.

The new production is set in the romantic city of Paris in the 1930s, where various suitors squabble to win the hand of the recently widowed, but very wealthy, Hannah Glawari. The work is full of stunning Viennese melodies, including famous show-stoppers such as Viljah, The Merry Widow Waltz and Chez Maxim's.

The production stars some of Scotland's finest performers including soprano Catriona Clark and baritone Douglas Nairne, who take the lead duo, while other cast members include former Scottish Opera Young Artists Marie Claire Breen and Andrew McTaggart.

? Opera Bohemia visits Boat of Garten Community Hall tomorrow; Strathpeffer Pavilion on Sunday; Thurso High School on Tuesday; and AROS Theatre on Skye on Thursday September 5. See for more information.
