FRETTER INTRODUCES REVOLUTIONARY COMPUTER APPLIANCE SHOPPING PROGRAM IN NEW ENGLAND AREA

WOBURN, Mass., March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Fretter, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: FTTR), which operates 12 appliance and home electronics stores in New England, today unveiled a revolutionary new computer system which permits shoppers to compare prices and features of brand- name appliances and electronic products.
The Fretter PriceTrac system, located in each of its stores in the New England area, will give consumers information on product features and prices for name-brand appliances and electronics offered by Fretter and other major competitors.
A search can be initiated by any single attribute or a combination of factors -- price, features, brand and other criteria.
Fretter demonstrated the unique program in a special meeting with the media at its store in Woburn.
John Hurley, president of Fretter, Inc., said his company "is excited to provide this innovative service for customers. It will make it easier for them to buy and will set Fretter apart from our competition."
"Obviously, this technology offers our customers the ultimate in one-stop shopping," said Hurley. "It permits customers to check on other brands -- without driving anywhere else -- to find the model at the price they want.
"And, of course, we guarantee them that Fretter will give them the best value based on the information they find.
"It is another innovation by our company to make shopping more convenient and responsive for our customers."
Fretter, Inc. is a leading specialty retailer of home entertainment products, consumer electronics and appliances with 86 store locations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio under the name Fretter and in Colorado, Montana and Wyoming through its wholly owned subsidiary Fred Schmid Appliance and TV Company.
