FRETTE WORKS WAY AROUND THE GLOBE FOR INSPIRATION.
NEW YORK-High-end Italian linen brand Frette used several locations in Europe as the inspiration for its new spring/summer 2007 collection.
Relying on the art, architecture and fashion of a beach house in France, a villa and townhouse in Italy, and a Mediterranean yacht, Frette showcased its ability to design in both traditional and contemporary styles.
For example, the Bruges collection, which was inspired by an ornate frieze on a Belgian castle ceiling, features a design motif of swirling tendrils and curlicue flowers in ivory and stone. The collection also has coordinating embroidery-trimmed towels in ivory and white.
In other news, Frette, which was recently acquired by private equity firm JH Partners, has launched a new e-commerce site at frette.com. The site, which will begin accepting orders Nov. 7, will enable customers to browse and buy the company's jacquard bedding, cashmere blankets, mink throws, limited-edition collections and other products. It also allows visitors to view Frette's print catalog online, and it has product-zoom features that enable customers to see the workmanship and details of Frette products.
"Frette.com is an extension of our retail business," said Enrico Marinelli, Frette's chief executive officer. "We have developed a Web site that's accessible, easy to navigate and shop, in addition to evoking sense of feeling and mood."
In addition to its new e-commerce site, Frette has 43 freestanding stores in Italy and eight boutiques and one outlet store here in the United States. The company is currently scouting locations in key markets, including Texas, Florida and Nevada.
