FRENCH ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION ORDERS CRAY T3D SYSTEM

 EAGAN, Minn., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Cray Research, Inc. (NYSE: CYR) announced today that the Commissariat a L'Energie Atomique (CEA), Division des Applications Militaires -- the French Atomic Energy Commission -- has ordered a CRAY T3D massively parallel processing system.
 CEA ordered a CRAY T3D MC128-2, a 128-processor system that will closely coupled with a CRAY M92 system already on site at CEA/Limeil. The CRAY T3D system will be used for research in fundamental and laser physics, and for electrodynamic and aerodynamic studies.
 The system is scheduled to be installed in fourth-quarter 1993 at CEA's Centre d'Etudes de Limeil-Valenton, near Paris. Terms were not disclosed. This is one of the nine initial orders referred to in the Sept. 27 CRAY T3D product announcement.
 "Cray Research has provided a number of CEA centers with supercomputing resources for mission-critical research applications," said John F. Carlson, Cray Research chairman and CEO. "We are pleased to deliver this next generation of supercomputing power to CEA."
 Including entry level supercomputers, Cray Research has more than 449 systems installed worldwide, including 41 in France.
