FREELANCE.COM OPENS OFFICE IN MEXICO CITY.
Fernando Lezama, Freelance.com's country manager for Mexico, will lead the company's initiative in Mexico, and will be supported by sales managers in Guadalajara and Monterrey. Before joining Freelance.com, Lezama was chairman of the board of the Mexican Information Technology Industry Association (AMITI). Lezama is president of the Latin American Association of Information Technology Professionals (ALETI), and is a board member of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA). He also sits on the boards of several private companies.
"Building a presence for Freelance.com here in Mexico is an exciting challenge that I am thrilled to take on," said Lezama, in his address to the guests attending the office opening ceremony. "Its strong economy and thriving business community make Mexico an ideal market for an innovative company like Freelance.com. This country represents significant opportunities for this premier online marketplace to connect its database of over 23,000 pre-screened incorporated freelance IT professionals with leading corporations based here and in the U.S.
"As our economy continues to grow, companies are increasingly demanding qualified IT talent to fill discreet needs quickly," Mr. Lezama continued. "Freelance.com is uniquely positioned to satisfy that demand. It provides the fastest and most efficient way to identify qualified IT professionals and teams for specific projects."
Neil Lustig, COO of Freelance.com, said, "I am pleased to be part of today's opening ceremonies. We are excited by the opportunity to play a key role in fueling Mexico's continued growth, and we look forward to working with all of you here today who have made Mexico one of the most robust economies in Latin America."
Noting that the company plans to open offices in other Latin American countries, Lustig continued, "In addition to servicing this strong and growing market, our presence in Mexico creates a gateway for Freelance.com to expand throughout Latin America. This initiative significantly strengthens our global platform, enabling us to better meet the exploding freelance needs of multinational and regional companies worldwide. Our entry into Latin America complements our growing presence in Europe, North America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East and reinforces Freelance.com's position as a clear leader in the networked economy."
Kathleen Bordelon, chief marketing officer of Freelance.com who was also present at the event, commended Mexico's corporate leaders in attendance, saying: "Your success in transforming Mexico's economy into a model for Latin America has been nothing short of remarkable. As the world's leading provider of customized outsourced IT skills, we are honored to have the opportunity to partner with you as you and your peers continue to fuel Mexico's prosperity and growth."
