FREEDOM MAGAZINE ARTICLES ON JFK BY FLETCHER PROUTY REVEALED
AS BASIS FOR NEW BOOK AT FREEDOM HUMAN RIGHTS AWARDS EVENT
WASHINGTON, Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Retired U.S. Air Force Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty, author of the book "The Secret Team" and consultant to the Oliver Stone movie "JFK," spoke before a crowd of 100 participants including honorees at the annual FREEDOM Magazine Human Rights Leadership Awards Dinner at the National Press Club.
In his delivery on "FREEDOM, HUMAN RIGHTS AND INDEPENDENCE," Prouty discussed how educating the American public on freedom of information is the power to true democracy and human rights. Expounding on Patrick Henry's famous words before the Virginia convention in Richmond in 1775 Prouty said,
"I believe that no one, no organization, no nation state, is ever
going to 'give' me freedom. Freedom is not given. I believe we
must earn freedom. We must so educate ourselves that we know
freedom when we have it; and...most of all...to know freedom when
it has slipped through our fingers and taken from us."
Prouty was referring to the cover-up of the JFK assassination and how the American public was led to believe there was only one assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald.
In a surprise announcement, Prouty told the audience he recently received a major publishing commitment to bring out his book in late summer of 1992, with a strong national marketing campaign. The title of the book is "The Saigon Solution; Game Plan of the High Cabal." The book is based on the twenty articles Prouty wrote for FREEDOM Magazine in the mid-to-late 1980s, which is the same material that Oliver Stone worked from in scripting the powerful "JFK" movie. Prouty was a major consultant and technical advisor to the Oliver Stone movie and was represented in the movie as the character "Man X."
Acknowledging Tom Whittle, editor-in-chief of FREEDOM Magazine, Prouty said, "He is an old friend and we have been in this together for a long time. He is the man who encouraged me to write 'a CIA series' that became a string of twenty articles that include a full inside analysis of the Vietnam war build-up and the JFK assassination story."
Following the keynote speaker, the FREEDOM Magazine Human Rights Awards were presented to three distinguished honorees. Attending and receiving the awards were Wisconsin State Representative Polly Williams (D-17th District) for developing and implementing the first state- approved Parental School Choice Program and Dr. Thomas Szasz, psychoanalyst, author and champion of human rights and individual freedoms. Accepting an award on behalf of retired Congressman John Moss was long-time friend and former staff director of the House Civil and Constitutional Subcommittee, Norman Cornish. Moss is best known as the author and mastermind behind the "Freedom of Information Act."
