FREE AND NOT-SO EASY; The best Xbox One and PS4 titles that won't cost a penny.
ANTA'S delivered on his promise of a new games console and you're over the moon.
SYour sparkly new console has probably come packaged with a recent big title, but what happens when you get bored with it? Believe it or not, there are actually some great games you can download on the Xbox One and PS4 that will cost you nothing.
Just be aware, parents, that, as with all "freemium" games, there are in-game purchases which can be made here.
Here's our pick of the best.
XBOX ONE: TOP FIVE FREE GAMES | Fortnite Battle Royale: Unless you've been living in a cave the past year, this game can't have escaped your attention.
In Fortnite Battle Royale, up to 100 players fight to be the last person standing.
You can play alone, pair up as a duo, or form a squad of three or four players to try your hand at surviving. | Killer Instinct: With access to a host of free-toplay characters, this classic fighting game is a must for your library. Over-thetop action combines with great graphics and killer moves for endless fun - you can even play online multi-player.
Of course, you can spend real world cash to speed up actions and buy premium characters - but the free base game has more than enough to keep you entertained. | Phantom Dust: This game started life on the Xbox 360, but has been brilliantly adapted for the next generation console.
Phantom Dust blends thirdperson arena combat with a collectable card game - where players collect 300 unique skills to build an arsenal of powers, to take into battle.
You can share the action with up to three other players - competing in highly-destructible arenas to defeat enemies.
With more than 15 hours of gameplay, there's plenty here to keep you entertained. | Fallout Shelter: Many fans have been deeply unhappy with the latest Fallout release, and, if you're one of them, this game could be the solution.
Fallout Shelter puts you in control of a state-of-the-art underground Vault from Vault-Tec, allowing you to build the perfect Vault to keep your Dwellers safe and happy.
As well as building a vault, you can use the junk you collect to customise your dwelling, build a radio room to attract new Dwellers, or simply explore the wasteland.
Simple and engaging - the perfect Fallout hit. | Trove: Geode: Discover a new world filled with danger and adventure. Use special abilities to explore mysterious caverns, make friends with new races and new creatures, or just have a blast as you fight to be the last Trovian standing in the new Bomber Royale mode.
DC Universe This voxel-based action MMO lets you battle deadly monsters, loot treasure, explore wild realms and build brand new worlds, all from the comfort of your couch.
PS4: TOP FIVE FREE GAMES | Gwent: The Witcher Card Game: If you've dipped your toe into the Witcher waters, then you'll know what Gwent is all about.
The in-world collectable card game not only adds depth to the fantasy world, but it's also quite a lot of Online fun in its own right. Based on skill rather than luck, Gwent gives you command of highly customisable armies, and encourages use of strategy and deception to defeat opponents. | DC Universe Online: Choose your side and join the fight alongside some of DC's biggest names.
You can create your own character, explore Gotham City, investigate Metropolis, and wander the darkened corridors of Arkham Asylum.
Be aware this game is a biggie - around 35MB - and, depending on your connection, that could take a few hours!
| Let it Die: A jolly little game to keep us in the festive spirit.
If you've played Dark Souls, then you have some idea of what you are in for here.
The aim is to get to the top of the Tower of Barbs, avoiding Uncle Death and the body collecting Jackals.
Hack, slash and slay your way to the top - a word of warning, though, this is not a game for youngsters.
| World of Tanks: Isn't it everyone's dream to drive a tank? Maybe not, but this is the game to help you fulfil that fantasy.
There are more than 150 tanks to choose from, as you tear your way across Second World War-themed maps and face down up to 15 other players.
As a new player, you'll also get a special booster kit - which includes double earnings on your first 50 wins.
| Brawlhalla: If you're a fan of Smash Bros, then this is a must download. This "homage" features a cast of mythical and historical warrior archetypes - taking in Valkyries, Vikings, medieval knights, and, randomly, 1930s gangsters - and lets you go wild.
The aim of the game is to knock your opponent off the stage by any means possible. The free-to-play version has a reduced roster of characters, but it's no less fun.
