 SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES
 PORTLAND, Ore., Feb. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Keith W. Lovett has joined Fred Meyer Inc. (NASDAQ: MEYR) in the new position of senior vice president of Human Resources, it was announced today by Robert G. Miller, Fred Meyer's chairman of the board and chief executive officer.
 Lovett, 48, comes to Fred Meyer from Eagle Food Centers Inc. in Milan, Ill., where he was senior vice president of Human Resources. He reports to Miller and has overall responsibility for the labor relations, payroll, and personnel departments and the Fred Meyer Institute, which manages hiring and human resource development.
 Lovett, a native of Portland, Ore., has 22 years of experience in labor negotiations and human resource management. He has two degrees from Willamette University in Salem, Ore., receiving a bachelor's in political science in 1965 and a J.D. from the College of Law in 1968. He then moved to Portland, where he worked with several companies in labor negotiations and insurance before entering the retail industry in 1974 as a labor relations manager for Albertson's Inc. in Boise, Idaho. He joined Eagle Food Centers in 1984 as vice president of Industrial Relations and four years later was named senior vice president of Human Resources.
 Fred Meyer is a leading regional retailer of a wide range of general merchandise, apparel, food, home electronics, fine jewelry and home improvement products sold in large one-stop-shopping stores ranging in size up to 200,000-square feet. The company employes 24,000 people and operates 122 stores, including 94 of its large multidepartment stores, in Oregon, Washington, Utah, Idaho, Alaska, Montana and California. Fred Meyer reported 1990 sales of $2.48 billion and its stock is traded on the over-the-counter market of NASDAQ.
