PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 15 /PR Newswire/ -- ARA Leisure/International Services President Richard H. Vent has named Franz Empl president of ARA Germany as part of a strategic effort to strengthen ARA Services' international service management operations.
Empl will join ARA on Jan. 1, 1994, and will succeed Heinrich Dietrich as president of ARA Germany on April 1, 1994. Dietrich will continue to oversee ARA Leisure/International operations in Belgium, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as pursue new acquisition opportunities in other European countries.
"As the trend to outsourcing services grows around the world, ARA is capitalizing in a big way on the opportunity to expand our operations," said Vent. "I'm delighted to add Franz Impl to our international team. He and Heinrich Dietrich will play key roles in shaping the future of ARA Leisure/International Services."
Empl is general manager of Nestle Foodservice in Germany and is primarily responsible for the company's institutional market service.
Empl founded Dany's Snack in 1975, the market leader in the snack market industry in Germany. He sold the company to Nestle Germany in 1986. From 1989 to 1992, Empl was general manager of Casino Moderne Menu Systeme, a division of Nestle.
"Based on his many years of experience and management, his sound knowledge of the market, and the scope and volume of business under his management, Franz Empl is well prepared for the task at ARA Services," said Vent.
According to Vent, the steady ARA growth in the international arena stems from visionary corporate leadership, an increasingly open market for outsourcing contractors and a dedicated ARA management team committed to expansion.
Recent new ARA accounts in Germany include Deutschebank in Frankfurt and Munich; IBM facilities in Mainz and Stuttgart; and the European Business School in Wiesbaden.
"In the ever-changing global marketplace, ARA International Services, now with $1 billion in annual sales, is poised to take advantage of opportunities stemming from the evolving world economy of the 1990s," said Vent. "Franz Empl will help us achieve this goal."
With headquarters in Philadelphia, ARA Services provides fully integrated service management in fields ranging from food and leisure to uniform, health, education, and magazine and book distribution.
ARA is an employee-owned company with more than 124,000 employees worldwide and $5 billion in 1993 sales.
