FRANKLIN BANK ANNOUNCES MOVE TO NEW HEADQUARTERS

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Franklin Bank, N.A. (NASDAQ: FSVB) today announced the move of its administrative offices and the bank's two subsidiaries, Franklin Commercial Lending Group and Franklin Home Lending Group. The new offices, located at 24725 West 12 Mile Road, will be occupied effective Monday, Jan. 11, 1993.
As a result of its conversion to a commercial bank, Franklin has aggressively expanded many new areas, particularly relative to commercial services. The new offices increase Franklin's administrative and lending facilities by 33 percent. If needed, additional space remains available in the building for future use.
"New services will continue to be added, requiring more space," said President and CEO Read P. Dunn. He added that the new facility will also enable Franklin to deliver present services with greater quality and efficiency.
Franklin acquired the new space at an estimated savings of $607,000 over the renewal rates at its present location for the smaller space currently under lease. Therefore, total occupancy expenses will actually decline because of the move. This savings results from a soft economy and Franklin's increased negotiating power as a commercial bank.
The new administrative offices continue to be located in the city of Southfield. Franklin remains the only financial institution with headquarters in the city, one of the largest commercial centers in the state of Michigan.
Franklin's branch office, currently located at 26336 West 12 Mile Road, near the intersection of Northwestern Highway in the city of Southfield and fourth branch in southeastern Michigan, will remain in service.
This spring, Franklin plans to also open a "Commercial Banking" branch at the new headquarters, catering primarily to business customers. This will be Franklin's second branch located in the city of Southfield. This unique facility will allow Franklin to better serve its growing base of small and medium-size business customers.
At Sept. 30, 1992, Franklin Bank had assets of $410 million. The bank primarily serves small to medium-sized business customers and affluent individual customers in Southfield, Birmingham and Grosse Pointe Woods.
