FPL HURRICANE ANDREW RESTORATION OVERVIEW

 FPL HURRICANE ANDREW RESTORATION OVERVIEW
MIAMI, Sept. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Comments from Bill Hamilton, vice

president of FPL customer service:
In Dade County the customer line -- for emergencies and downed sparking wires ONLY at this time -- is 305-442-8770.
FPL is aware that many Dade families are relocating to Broward County. Please be patient with us regarding requests for establishing service at your new location.
Please continue to use PORTABLE GENERATORS safely. Keep it in a well-ventilated area. Plug appliances directly into the generator or use extension cords between the generator and appliances.
South of Kendall Drive in heavily damaged areas of Dade County, CONSIDER ALL DOWNED POWER LINES ENERGIZED and stay away from them. PLEASE KEEP AREAS AROUND POWER POLES AND GROUND LEVEL TRANSFORMERS FREE OF DEBRIS. This will help speed the work of utility crews. The utility easements that need to be kept clear -- areas that provide access to electric equipment -- are generally either in the front or rear of your home or business.
NEIGHBORHOODS WITH PARTIAL POWER -- If some of your neighbors have power and you don't, it may be that power lines or transformers serving your home are damaged -- or it may be that your home wiring has damage. If you have any concerns about the structural soundness of your home or home wiring -- seek assistance from a general contractor and/or a licensed electrician.
