FPL ASKS FOR CUSTOMER PATIENCE IN SERVICE CONNECTIONS AND RESTORATION
MIAMI, Sept. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- As Florida Power & Light Company works to restore service to the South Florida communities ravaged by Hurricane Andrew, FPL also is trying to meet service obligations elsewhere throughout its system. However, the utility is asking its remaining customers to be patient with any delays that may occur, including requests for new service connections and service restoration due to storms.
FPL is aware that many Dade County families are relocating to Broward County. In Broward and other parts of FPL's service area on the East and West coasts of Florida, the response time to disconnect or reconnect electric service at existing homes and apartments has essentially returned to normal with the exception of Dade County. Developers and builders needing assistance at new sites outside Dade County should contact their local FPL service planning office to discuss their service requirements.
Customers throughout FPL's service territory may also be experiencing scattered outages due to summer thunderstorms. FPL will be addressing these outages, but service restoration will take longer than normal due to the hurricane restoration effort in Dade County.
