 FOURTH ANNUAL CLEAN AIR AWARDS:
20 PRAISED FOR CLEAN AIR EFFORTS BY AQMD
DIAMOND BAR, Calif., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- For the fourth year, the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) is honoring those who have made a difference in the quality of life in the Southland by helping to clean up our polluted air.
"Some things make this year distinctive," said AQMD Chairman Henry Wedaa. "There are more winners this year -- because there are greater numbers of high-quality projects in the South Coast Air Basin that deserve recognition.
"Another distinction is that more projects than ever come from team efforts -- partnerships and consortiums formed in the conviction that burdens borne together are burdens lessened.
"The South Coast Air Basin communities pride themselves on their diversity, and the Clean Air Awards winners reflect that."
Chosen from the worlds of art and science, commerce and government, tradition and innovation, the winners represent both the "dreamers" and the "doers," according to John Dunlap, AQMD public advisor.
"The point of the awards is twofold: to publicly express appreciation for good efforts and to encourage imitation," Dunlap said.
