FOUR SEASONS HOTEL ESTABLISHES LIVE DATA LINK
 WITH INTERACTIVE/MS SOFTWARE
BOSTON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Four Seasons, a leading international hotel chain, today announced that it has put into production use the commercial release of Interactive/MCTM, a module to the IMRS1U\0U PC network-based graphical information access software, IMRS OnTrack1U \OU.
Interactive/MC allows users to have live, direct access to data from Micro Control 1U \0U, IMRS' market-leading financial consolidation and reporting software.
Data from 21 Four Seasons hotels is delivered to corporate executives at the chain's Toronto headquarters directly through IMRS OnTrack. In the past, executives could only get this information as static, paper reports. Each hotel now loads its financial data into Micro Control and transmits the information electronically to Toronto, allowing Four Seasons to eliminate virtually all of its paper reports.
"IMRS OnTrack with Interactive/MC provides accurate and timely information to our senior executives," said Joseph A. Pierluissi, Operations Analyst at Four Seasons. "The system allows our analysts and executives to get immediate feedback on how we are doing on either a 'big picture' overview basis or a very detailed information basis."
A variety of hotel operational data are tracked using Interactive/MC, including: average room rate; number of room nights; occupancy percentage; cost and revenue per occupied room; utility consumption; labor hours; number of people visiting hotel restaurants; average restaurant check; and revenue per restaurant seat. Four Seasons also uses the system to report profit and loss statements on a weekly basis, as well as for detailed forecasting of financial projections on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. According to Pierluissi, the weekly flash reports now take four minutes to process and consolidate instead of the two to three days they previously required.
The hotel chain plans to expand its application of Interactive/MC to report qualitative information, such as housekeeping, guest service, reception standards, and other hotel evaluation data.
"My goal is to make the information in IMRS OnTrack and Interactive/MC useful to all of our executives and analysts throughout the day. I want them to have the software up on their screens all day long," explained Pierluissi.
Four Seasons also uses IMRS OnTrack to access other software packages, including electronic mail, spreadsheets, communications, and an internal hotel modeling system. The company expects to increase the total number of IMRS OnTrack users to 25.
IMRS first released Interactive/MC with version 2.0 of IMRS OnTrack in May. By having a direct link to the Micro Control database, users can take advantage of the business and financial "intelligence" inherent in Micro Control and have the most up-to-date information available.
"The most important benefit of Interactive/MC is that it gives our customers faster access to critical information needed for decision- making," said Carrie Galehouse, business director for IMRS OnTrack. "By having the information graphically available as soon as it is reported, managers and executives can address critical issues immediately. In a volatile and very competitive market, this availability is crucial."
Headquartered in Stamford, Conn., IMRS Inc. develops, markets, and supports a family of network-based business and financial information software products for corporations worldwide. These products provide executives, managers, and analysts with the ability to collect, process, report, and easily analyze business information in a timely manner using networked PCs. IMRS has products installed at more than 950 corporate headquarters and at thousands of reporting sites worldwide. IMRS reported revenues of $46 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1992.
