Byline: Gideon Rubin Staff Writer

LAKE ELSINORE - After struggling in about every area of the game during a recent slump, the JetHawks suddenly find themselves in a pennant race.

The JetHawks defeated Lake Elsinore 10-3 Sunday in front of 2,860 at The Diamond. It was the JetHawks' fourth consecutive victory and fifth in six games.

It also was the team's first series sweep this season. The win moved the JetHawks (16-15) above .500 for the first time this year and completed a grueling 8-5 trip.

Lancaster knocked Lake Elsinore out of a first-place tie with High Desert. Third-place Lancaster trails High Desert (17-12) - a 5-4 winner over Rancho Cucamonga - by two games. Lake Elsinore (16-13) is a game behind the Southern Division leaders.

The JetHawks had 12 hits, including four home runs in support of starter Garrett Mock (2-2), who allowed two runs on four hits in six innings. He struck out four and allowed a walk.

Steve Garrabrants was 3 for 5 with a grand slam that broke open a 2-0 game in the fourth inning. Alex Frazier and Miguel Montero hit consecutive homers for the third time this season in a three-run seventh.

``We just kept coming at them,'' JetHawks manager Bill Plummer said. ``It was a big series for us and a big road trip.''

The offensive outburst came against an unlikely opponent. Storm left-hander Sean Thompson (4-1) entered the game leading the league with a 1.32 ERA, and the JetHawks were batting .259 against left-handed pitchers, 32 points below their average against right-handers.

--Notes: JetHawks shortstop Danny Richar suffered a mild concussion in thegame Saturday after colliding with outfielder Alex Frazier. He did not play Sunday and is listed as day-to-day.
