FOUNDING MEMBER OF WASSERSTEIN PERELLA JOINS DUBIN & SWIECA AS PRESIDENT
NEW YORK, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- George R. Hornig, a founder of Wasserstein Perella, has been named president and chief operating officer of Dubin & Swieca, an asset management firm which specializes in managed futures. The announcement was made today by Glenn R. Dubin and Henry Swieca, the firm's founding partners.
"We are bringing George on board to help solidify our management infrastructure which can best exploit the tremendous global growth which managed futures is expected to experience over the next decade," said Swieca.
"George will also contribute his M&A expertise in creating joint ventures where opportunities arise for the firm to access new markets or develop new products and technology," added Dubin.
Before joining Dubin & Swieca, Hornig, 37, served as managing director and chief operating officer of Wasserstein Perella, where he also headed up the firm's Japanese mergers and acquisitions practice in the United States and oversaw the technology industry group. He is also credited with having created Wasserstein Perella's infrastructure, including the firm's operating and financial systems, under the intense pressure of a start-up environment.
Prior to that, Hornig was vice president for The First Boston Corporation's mergers and acquisitions and investment banking groups, and served as an associate at the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom.
Hornig received his M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Harvard in 1980 and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College in 1976 with an A.B. in economics, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Formed in 1984, Dubin & Swieca Capital Management, Inc., is a New York based investment company which specializes in managed derivative programs for institutional investors. Prior to June of 1990, the firm was an investment management unit of Shearson Lehman Brothers. Today, Dubin & Swieca is an independent money management firm with twenty-six professionals resident in offices in New York and Paris. With over $600 million of capital under management, representing some of the most highly regarded institutional and private investors worldwide, Dubin & Swieca is considered to be one of the premier firms specializing in managed futures.
