FOUNDATION HEALTH MEDICAL GROUP REACHES AGREEMENT WITH ACCESS HEALTH TO PROVIDE PERSONAL HEALTH MANAGEMENT SERVICES

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Sept. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Access Health Marketing Inc. (NASDAQ: ACCS) today announced that it has agreed to provide personal health management services to Foundation Health Medical Group Inc. and Foundation Health Medical Services. Foundation Health Medical Services is a subsidiary of Foundation Health Corp., a prominent national managed care organization.
"In working with Access Health, Foundation Health Medical Group has made a bold move in addressing the market issue of healthcare demand management," said Kenneth B. Plumlee, president and chief executive officer of Access Health Marketing Inc. "Our goal will be to increase individual responsibility, improve the quality of service and provide a more efficient use of health care services for Foundation's patients. Through the use of information, Foundation and Access Health will more effectively assist consumers in managing their own healthcare."
Access Health will deliver its Personal Health Advisor(TM) service to patients of Foundation Health Medical Group. For Foundation, Access Health will play a key role in their progressive business initiative to establish a network of primary medical care centers. Access Health's initial assignment will be to provide its Personal Health Advisor product for a physician group with more than 10,000 affiliated patients. Access Health will serve as Foundation Health Medical Group's patient information center.
"This will provide a central point of access and an innovative approach in the way primary care is delivered," commented Plumlee.
"We see information as an important tool for our primary care physicians and their patients," said Emmett Smith, MD, a member of Foundation Health Medical Group's board of directors. "Providing 24-hour access to health information is an important component in effectively managing care."
The Foundation program is expected to begin in late October. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Access Health programs and services help managed care organizations, self-insured employers and hospitals by providing personal health management services. Its health information, prevention and care management programs are designed to improve patient access, reduce costs and promote individual responsibility for managing health.
