FORTUNE BANCORP ELECTS LLEWELLYN JENKINS AS DIRECTOR
CLEARWATER, Fla., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Fortune Bancorp, Inc.

(NASDAQ: FORB) today announced the election of Llewellyn Jenkins as a director of the company and its flagship subsidiary, Fortune Bank.
"It gives me great personal pride to have Lew become a member of our board at this important time of our evolution. Lew's broad knowledge of our business will be invaluable," said Fortune Chairman and Chief Executive Officer John R. Torell III.
Jenkins is a past president of the American Bankers Association (ABA) and the former vice chairman of the board of Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company, where he served as executive vice president in charge of the national division.
"Lew became one of the nation's most respected and influential bankers during his leadership of the ABA where he was intimately involved in many of the industry's deregulatory and restructuring efforts," Torell noted. "During the years we worked together at Manufacturers Hanover, Lew and I developed a close working relationship that I am pleased to continue at Fortune."
Jenkins served the American Bankers Association from 1980 to 1983 in the respective roles of president-elect, president and chairman and continues to maintain ties to the organization.
Jenkins served with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co. from 1946 (joining what was then the Central Hanover Bank & Trust Co.) until his retirement in 1983. His 37-year banking career included various assignments in the bank's national division. In 1979, Jenkins was elected vice chairman and a member of the board of directors. He was also a member of the bank's general administrative board.
Jenkins received a B.S. in economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and is a graduate of both the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University and the Graduate School of Credit and Finance Management at Dartmouth College.
Fortune Bancorp is the holding company for Clearwater-based Fortune Bank, a $2.6 billion institution operating 45 full service banking offices in eight counties along Florida's west coast.
