 FORT LAUDERDALE TEMPORARY SERVICES EXECUTIVE
 PRESENTED WITH NATIONAL AWARD
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The national Leadership Hall of Fame award for outstanding individual contributions to the temporary help industry will be presented today in Las Vegas to Allan C. Sorensen, chairman of the board of Fort Lauderdale-based Interim Services, Inc.
The award is being presented by the National Association of Temporary Services. Until today, only 18 distinguished leaders have become members of the Hall of Fame.
Sorensen began his career in the temporary services industry in 1962, as a sales representative for the company now named Interim Services, Inc., which is one of the largest temporary services and health care companies in North America. He served as president from 1967 until 1989, and became chief executive officer in 1978 when H&R Block, Inc. acquired the company, until September 1991. He was appointed chairman of Interim in 1989 and elected to the board of directors of H&R Block in 1979.
He also serves as current chairman and a director of the Home Health Services and Staffing Association (HHSSA) board. He is a past president of the National Association of Temporary Services (NATS) and a member of that board of directors for 14 years.
In addition to currently serving as a director and member of the executive committee of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art, and the Friedt School of Business and Entrepreneurship, Nova University, he was elected to the board of governors at The Florida Philharmonic and is a member of the Broward Workshop.
Born in Canada, Sorensen became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1965. He holds a B.S. degree in Pharmacy from Drake University. He resides in Fort Lauderdale.
Interim Services, Inc., which filled more than 2 million temporary assignments last year, provides the widest range of skills to America, including physicians, nurses, home health aides, paralegals, assemblers, accountants, laborers and secretaries -- offering more diversity than any other national temporary services company. An H&R Block company, Interim Services, Inc. expects total sales revenues from its nearly 700 offices to reach $1 billion in the next 12 months.
The corporate service center of Interim Services, Inc. is located at 2050 Spectrum Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309-3008.
