FORSTMANN LITTLE NAMES SANDRA HORBACH A GENERAL PARTNER

NEW YORK, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Forstmann Little & Co. announced today that it has named Sandra J. Horbach, 32, a general partner, making her the firm's sixth general partner.
Horbach joined Forstmann Little as an associate in 1987. She serves on the board of directors of Aldila, Inc. and Department 56, Inc., the firm's two most recent acquisitions. Prior to joining Forstmann Little, she was a financial analyst in Morgan Stanley's Mergers & Acquisitions Department from 1983 to 1985, before receiving her MBA degree from Stanford University in 1987.
"Sandra Horbach is an exceptionally talented person," said senior partner Theodore J. Forstmann. "Asking her to become our partner reflects the significant contribution she has already made and our expectation that her contribution will continue to grow, both in screening potential investments and in working with them after Forstmann Little has committed its capital."
Horbach graduated from Wellesley College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chinese and Economics in 1982. In 1980, she attended Fudan University in Shanghai, People's Republic of China, becoming one of the first American students to study in mainland China. After graduating from Wellesley, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to study economics at National Taiwan University in Taipei.
"I am honored to be named a general partner of Forstmann Little. The experience I have gained at this firm has been invaluable in my professional development," said Horbach. "I appreciate the responsibility I have been given by my colleagues and look forward to many more years working closely with them and with executives of our portfolio companies."
Founded in 1978, Forstmann Little & Co. is an investment partnership which acquires or makes significant investments in operating companies. The firm, which currently has approximately $2 billion in committed capital, now owns or controls such well known companies as General Instrument Corporation and Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation.
