as Debate Begins on Health Care Reform
WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Pennsylvania Rep. Marc Lincoln Marks has joined the Washington office of Epstein Becker & Green (EBG), recently described by the Washington Business Journal as "one of the leading law firms in the country." Marks served in Congress from the 24th Congressional District in Pennsylvania from 1977-1983 and was the ranking Republican on the Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and on the Select Committee on Aging, Health and Longterm Care Subcommittee.
Marks has been on the faculty of the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration and in private practice since retiring from the House of Representatives. Prior to being elected to Congress, Marks was a highly regarded litigator in private practice in Pennsylvania.
"We are pleased that Congressman Marks will add his considerable knowledge of Congress to our health practice in Washington," said Steven Epstein, founding partner in the firm's Washington office. "The debates in health care reform which will take place in Congress over the next several years will have a profound effect on the ultimate shape of the American health care system. We appreciate Mr. Marks' participation in the development of the managed care options of the 1970s by the Congress and know that he will be an important asset to both the private sector and key members of Congress as this important debate unfolds."
Starting with two lawyers in 1973, Epstein Becker & Green, today has 180 attorneys, with offices in New York; Washington; Boston; San Francisco; Los Angeles; Dallas; Stamford, Conn.; Princeton, N.J.; Tallahassee, Fla.; and Alexandria, Va., and with firm affiliates in 47 countries and on six continents. The firm represents major health care clients throughout the United States and is frequently consulted by Congressional health staffs on health law matters.
