FORMER NRC COMMISSIONER JAMES R. CURTISS ELECTED TO BALTIMORE GAS AND ELECTRIC CO.'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 BALTIMORE, Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Former NRC Commissioner James R. Curtiss has been elected to the board of directors of Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. (NYSE: BGE), the utility announced today.
 Curtiss will begin his term on Jan. 1, 1994 and is expected to serve on the Board's Committee on Nuclear Power.
 "We're delighted to have someone with Mr. Curtiss' integrity, knowledge of the issues and management experience join us," BG&E Chairman Christian H. Poindexter said in making the announcement. "His experience with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the federal government and nuclear power matters in general will make him a real asset to our Board."
 Curtiss, a Silver Spring resident, was appointed to the NRC as a Commissioner by President Reagan in 1988 and served through June 1993. Prior to his term as NRC Commissioner, he served as Counsel and Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Nuclear Regulation, a subcommittee of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, from 1981 through 1988. Prior to that he served as an attorney with the NRC.
 Curtiss is currently a Partner with the Washington, law firm of Winston and Strawn.
 Born in Nebraska in 1953, he graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a B.A. in 1976 and a J.D. in 1979 from the same school.
 Curtiss holds bar memberships in the Supreme Court of the United States, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and the State of Nebraska. He is a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Society for Risk Analysis.
