FORMER NAVY SECRETARY NAMED TO GKI'S BOARD OF DIRECTORS

ROCKVILLE, Md., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- General Kinetics Incorporated (GKI) (AMEX: GKI), a designer, producer and marketer of high-end digital secure facsimile equipment, precision enclosures, plastic sorting and food testing equipment headquartered in Herndon, Va., has named former Navy Secretary Sean O'Keefe to serve as a member of GKI's board of directors.
In addition to serving on the board of directors, O'Keefe is to immediately embark on a comprehensive study of GKI's internal controls and strategic plan. "I am quite impressed with GKI's ability to weather the financial difficulties of the last year and continue to produce quality products. In my judgment, GKI's future is bright and promising. I look forward to helping as an active member of the board," said O'Keefe.
The study and recommendations will be presented to the board at the fiscal year-end meeting in May 1993. Appropriate recommendations will then be implemented.
GKI is very pleased to have someone of O'Keefe's distinguished background and character on board. The company views O'Keefe's participation as yet another ingredient to GKI's long-term financial success.
Prior to becoming secretary of the Navy, O'Keefe served as comptroller and chief financial officer of the Department of Defense. Before that, he was on the staff of the Senate Appropriations Committee for eight years. O'Keefe is a native of New Orleans, where he received his bachelor's degree from Loyola University. In 1979, he received his master's in public administration from Syracuse University.
