FORMER KENNECOTT DIAMOND GEOLOGIST JOINS TERYL RESOURCES CORP.
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Teryl Resources (Vancouver: TRC) is pleased to announce that geologist Jack Marr, formerly with Kennecott Canada Inc., has joined Teryl as vice president of Exploration in charge of the Amad Claims diamond project in the Lac de Gras region of the Northwest Territories.
Marr brings over 20 years of exploration expertise and experience to his new position. His extensive background in mining and particularly diamond exploration includes a long association with Esso Minerals and Kennecott Canada Inc., where he was regional manager in charge of diamond exploration specifically in the Northwest Territories.
Marr will be acting on behalf of Teryl, interpreting the results from the Amad Claims evaluation program. In addition, Marr will be evaluating other diamond prospects in the region for Teryl.
Teryl has discovered several diamond indicator minerals on its joint venture Amad Claim Block, and soil samples are presently undergoing microscope and electron microprobe studies. Teryl's 2,530-acre property is only 20 miles from Dia Met Minerals discovery from which 101 carats of diamonds (25 percent gem quality) were recently found in one 50-acre kimberlite pipe.
Based on the success of the results to date, Kennecott Canada Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of RTZ, has requested to exercise its option to earn a 61-percent interest in Teryl Resources Corp.'s Amad Claims by spending $1,250,000 and an additional 4 percent by spending $3,250,000 on the property over six years. (Based on Kennecott exercising its 65-percent option, Teryl will provide 33 percent and Calco Resources will provide 32 percent. See Aug. 10, 1992, news release for details on Teryl Calco agreement.)
Detailed results of the geochemical program should be available by Nov. 15.
