FORMER GORBACHEV SCIENCE ADVISER JOINS NOVECON TECHNOLOGIES

RESTON, Va., Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Yuri Ossipyan, well-known Russian academician and science adviser to former Soviet President Gobachev, has joined Novecon Technologies as chief technical adviser.
Ossipyan served as the vice president of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1989 to 1992, and has specialized in solid state physics and materials science for more than 30 years. He is presently director of the Institute of Solid State Physics in Moscow.
Novecon Technologies works with U.S. firms to define ways to accelerate company R&D programs and product line improvement using novel technologies developed in support of Cold War military programs in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union.
"Teaming with Dr. Ossipyan is a perfect match with Novecon technologies' need to quickly find technology to meet U.S. customer requirements and consummate reliable business transactions," said James M. LeMunyon, president of Novecon Technologies. "While there is now tremendous access to Russian science by Western companies, the Russian scientific establishment is so vast that very few people completely understand it. Dr. Ossipyan is one of those people. His expertise in technology source identification and assistance in conducting `due diligence' will speed the time to market of Russian technology -- and U.S. products."
The Ossipyan-Novecon relationship also brings old foes together as business partners. From 1989-1992, LeMunyon was deputy assistant secretary and acting assistant secretary for export administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. In this role, he was directly responsible for administering controls restricting technology exports to the former Soviet Union.
Novecon Technologies is presently working with U.S. firms in acquiring rights to a variety of goods and technologies from Russia and Eastern Europe, including specialty software, aircraft designs, long- life power sources, mixing blades, crystalline materials and micro- electronics technology.
Novecon Technologies is a limited partnership established in early 1993 by U.S. industry executives and former government officials.
