FORESIGHT IMAGING DEBUTS I-COLOR FRAME GRABBER/VIDEO STREAMER.

Foresight Imaging debuts the I-Color frame grabber and video streamer, the newest member of the I-Series imaging boards. Unlike color frame grabbers from other manufacturers that are based upon chip manufacturer's "reference designs," I-Color is based on the high performance I-Series architecture. This performance model provides high speed video streaming and diagnostic-quality images for demanding medical imaging and machine vision applications.

"Our customers in cardiology, ultrasound, and other medical imaging disciplines have been requesting a high performance color video streamer and frame grabber that is compatible with our popular I-Series. I-Color delivers on this request while offering the exceptional image quality that our customers have come to expect from Foresight Imaging," said Tony Molinari, vice president, marketing & business development.

About I-Color

I-Color provides video images and high speed video streaming. I-Color accepts up to 4 video inputs from the following video sources and formats: composite color, S-Video, monochrome, NTSC, PAL, RS-170, and CCIR. Video digitization is 16 or 24 bits color and 8 bits monochrome. Color video formats include YUV 4:2:2 and RGB 8:8:8. Contributing to its high accuracy, I-Color features low pixel jitter of +/-2.0 ns and a signal-to-noise ratio of 47 dB. Powered by high speed PCI bus mastering, scatter-gather technology, and double buffering, I-Color supports 120+ MB/second sustained PCI bus transfers to accommodate the most demanding video streaming applications. I-Color supports simultaneous real-time display via real-time transfer of images directly to display card memory or via image transfer over the VIP/VMI over-the-top bus to industry-standard display cards.

Software Support

As a member of the I-Series of frame grabbers and video streamers, I-Color is supported by IDEA (Imaging Development Environment for Applications) software development kit. IDEA supports both the I-Series and HI*DEF product families so that once an application is written with IDEA, users have support for all I-Series and HI*DEF boards without re-writing their software. Extensive example programs (with source code) for acquisition, video streaming, graphics overlays, and more are included with each I-Color board. Common Vision Blox, Image-Pro Plus, Optimas, and TWAIN drivers are available for higher-level application requirements.

Pricing and Availability

I-Color product shipments are expected in June 2000. Pricing is $1,036 in 100 piece quantities.
