FOREIGN AID AGENCY PUTS BUSINESS INFORMATION
ON ELECTRONIC BULLETIN BOARD FOR U.S. COMPANIES
WASHINGTON, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has established an electronic bulletin board to inform American companies about procurement opportunities with the Agency.
The Procurement Information Access System (PIAS) gives U.S. companies an "early alert" on USAID contracts and services in connection with projects and programs in developing countries.
The information includes descriptions of projects, their industry sectors, prime contractors, and how to contact the responsible USAID procurement officer in Washington.
PIAS can be accessed through a computer and a modem at a cost of $35 per year which includes two hours of use. Additional hours are billed on a pro-rated basis at $12 per hour.
"We want more U.S. businesses to be aware of USAID procurement opportunities at the earliest stage of the process," said USAID Administrator Dr. Ronald W. Roskens.
"This information is vital for advance planning, and developing countries also will benefit," Roskens added.
"PIAS will get the word out to more U.S. companies on USAID procurement opportunities, thus enabling more U.S. businesses to expand in those markets," he said.
For businesses seeking more detailed information on PIAS, contact John Wilkinson at USAID at 703-875-1551.
USAID is the government agency that administers U.S. economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 80 developing nations worldwide.
