FORD-FIAT AGRICULTURAL VENTURE SIGNS EXCLUSIVE TRANSPORTATION DEAL
 WITH MICHIGAN NON-CARRIER LOGISTICS COMPANY
DETROIT, May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Representatives of Ford New Holland Americas and LogiCorp, Inc. today announced an agreement that names LogiCorp the exclusive provider of logistics management services for the Pennsylvania-based farm equipment manufacturer.
Under the terms of the contract, LogiCorp, of West Bloomfield, Mich., will provide worldwide freight logistics support for Ford New Holland's inbound component and materials shipments and outbound movement of tractors and farm equipment.
Several Ford New Holland transportation employees will join LogiCorp as part of the core service group staffing LogiCorp's new northeast regional headquarters near Reading, Pa. This new office will serve Ford New Holland (New Holland, Pa.) and other LogiCorp clients in the region, including Rockwell Graphic Systems (Reading) and Mack Trucks, Inc. (Allentown, Pa.).
Ford New Holland manufactures farm tractors, balers, combines skid- steer loaders and haying machines. In a move that allows Ford New Holland to further concentrate on its core business, LogiCorp will be engaged to coordinate shipments of raw materials, parts, components and finished heavy equipment to, from and between Ford New Holland's four plants and eight distribution centers, as well as shipments into and out of the U.S.
Ford New Holland is part of Ford New Holland Americas, an operating division of N.H. Geotech n.v., one of the world's three largest producers of agricultural equipment. N.H. Geotech, formed in May 1991, is owned 80 percent by Fiat (NYSE: FIA) and 20 percent by Ford (NYSE: F), and posted sales in 1991 of $5 billion.
LogiCorp is a rapidly growing leader in the emerging field of domestic and international contract logistics. The company combines freight bill audit and payment, leveraged freight buying, data management technology, logistics analysis and engineering expertise to seek continual improvement in client freight programs. LogiCorp acts as an adjunct to its clients' internal staff, or can offer stand-alone, turn-key services.
Unlike logistics providers which are part of a carrier organization, LogiCorp holds no transportation assets, allowing LogiCorp to provide objective solutions to its clients' transportation needs. LogiCorp serves manufacturers in the automotive, healthcare, furniture and industrial materials fields.
