 FORD UNVEILS NEW ENVIRONMENTAL LOGO
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers who purchase and

drive cars and trucks that operate on alternative fuels want their contribution toward improving the environment to be recognized by their friends and associates, according to Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) research. That desire for recognition has led Ford to design a unique logo to be used on these vehicles.
"The road to a better environment is marked with a graphic new sign as Ford adds this fresh emblem to its alternative fuel cars and trucks," said Richard Fenstermacher, executive director - Marketing for Ford's North American Automotive Operations. "This logo depicting a section of road with a green leaf will join the widely recognized blue Ford oval on the company's more environmentally friendly vehicles as they are launched.
"Consumers will be able to recognize immediately that these Ford cars and trucks have been designed to help improve local air quality through use of gasoline alternatives," Fenstermacher noted. The new logo was unveiled at a news conference held prior to the first San Francisco appearance of Eco Expo, the largest show in the United States featuring environmental products for the consumer.
Ford is involved in research and development of vehicles fueled with natural gas, methanol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG or propane) and electricity. The decision was made last year to design one logo that could be used on all alternative fuel vehicles, advertising and promotion materials.
A corporate team reviewed hundreds of ideas and narrowed the selections to a few that were researched with consumers in March. "We conducted consumer surveys in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles," Fenstermacher explained. "Car and truck owners told us that the leaf and road logo most effectively communicated Ford's environmental message. These consumers also told us that concepts such as conservation, clean and safe were conveyed by the design."
The new logo has been trademarked by Ford Motor Company for its exclusive use.
