FORD TO PAY PROFIT SHARING

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) employees will receive profit sharing payments based on the company's performance last year.
"I'm pleased to be able to announce today to eligible salaried and hourly employees in the U.S. that a profit sharing distribution will be made for 1993," Alex Trotman, chairman and chief executive officer, said in a televised broadcast to Ford facilities throughout the country. "It is money well-earned. You've done an outstanding job in difficult times."
Trotman praised employees for their dedication and for helping the company reach such specific achievements as its highest market share in 15 years; maintaining five of the 10 best-selling vehicles in the U.S.; bringing the all-new Ford Mustang to market in a record 35 months, while also capturing Motor Trend's "Car of the Year" honors; and another banner year in Financial Services.
"Our U.S. successes last year were achieved the old fashioned way, with hard work and teamwork, through the cooperation and strong efforts of the whole Ford team -- all salaried and hourly employees, the UAW leadership, and our dealers and suppliers, as well," Trotman said.
This marks the eighth year that Ford has paid profit sharing since the plan first payout in 1983. Profit sharing was last paid in 1990.
An average amount of profit sharing will be announced to employees in February. Profit sharing checks will be distributed in March.
