FORD TO OFFER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

DETROIT, Aug. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- A free Roadside Assistance Program, featuring no-charge towing, will be offered by Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) for its 1994 Ford, Mercury and Lincoln cars and light trucks.
The program will provide convenient roadside assistance for emergency situations, and will include fuel delivery, battery service, lockout assistance and tire-changing in addition to towing services.
Robert L. Rewey, vice-president - Marketing and Sales Operations, Ford North American Automotive Operations, said: "We're intensifying our drive to improve the total ownership experience. Our objective is to place the customer first in everything we do.
"We believe our new Roadside Assistance Program will solidify Ford's leadership in overall customer satisfaction."
Vehicle owners will access the Roadside Assistance Program through a special toll-free, nationwide emergency hotline that is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Hotline operators will request specific information -- with a focus on the safety of vehicle owners -- and contact a local towing company that will provide the most timely and professional service.
Operators also will contact local police or public safety authorities if necessary.
The program is effective throughout the warranty period -- three years or 36,000 miles for Ford and Mercury vehicles and four years or 50,000 miles for Lincolns. Program benefits remain effective for subsequent owners of vehicles sold during the coverage period.
Ford Customer Service Division will oversee the program which will be operated by the Ford Auto Club.
Ford's Roadside Assistance Program is another good reason for new vehicle prospects to purchase Ford, Mercury and Lincoln vehicles.
