FORD REPORTS UNITED WAY GIFT

DEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) and its employees have pledged nearly $11.9 million to the 1993 United Way for Southeastern Michigan campaign.
Ford's gift consists of employee pledges totaling $10,525,273 and a contribution from the Ford Motor Company Fund totaling $1,330,000.
"I'm really pleased with the generous contribution from the Ford team," said David McCammon, vice president -- Finance and Treasurer. "It's another indication of the commitment of all Ford employees, as well as the UAW and other represented unions, to helping those in our communities who need our help most."
McCammon, who served as Ford's campaign chair this year, announced the contribution at the United Way luncheon today at the Westin Hotel in Detroit.
"The 1993 United Way drive was a unified effort among all Ford employees -- local unions and hourly employees, salaried employees and management," added Ernie Lofton, vice-president and director of the UAW National Ford Department. "I am confident that our long tradition of supporting the United Way assisted in this year's campaign."
This is the 13th consecutive year that Ford led metro Detroit companies in raising money for the United Way. In the 45 years that Ford has participated in the United Way drive, employees and the company have contributed more than $277 million to the Southeastern Michigan campaign.
