FORD PLEASED WITH UAW SELECTION

 DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Following is a statement by Jack Hall, vice president - Employee Relations, Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F):
 The leadership role will provide Ford with an opportunity to fashion an agreement which addresses the interests of all who have a stake in the success of this company.
 We have made steady progress since the formal opening of negotiations on June 24 and firmly believe the foundation of trust we have built with the UAW will allow us to craft an agreement that will secure Ford's competitive position in the United States.
 We are pleased to begin intensive negotiations in order to achieve a settlement before the Sept. 14, 1993 deadline.
