 COMMENTS
The following may be attributed to Robert L. Rewey, vice president - Marketing and Sales Operations, Ford North American Automotive Operations:
"November was the 24th month in a row that Ford's total vehicle volume exceeded the year-ago level. Notably, this reflected continuing growth in the appeal of Ford and Lincoln-Mercury products to individual consumers. Our total retail car sales were 13 percent above November a year ago and our truck volume reached a new all-time high."
"Looking at individual vehicle lines, among our most outstanding accomplishments were the new November volume records established for Ford Aerostar, Explorer and Ranger, as well as for Mercury Sable and Villager. Lincoln Mark VIII was America's best-selling luxury coupe for the 12th consecutive month. Ford dealers' November F-Series truck deliveries were the highest since 1978. Additionally, the momentum continued for Ford Escort (up 49 percent) and Thunderbird (up 39 percent), for Mercury Tracer (up 26 percent) and Cougar (up 36 percent). That's even more gratifying than the fact that their innovative marketing approaches have been widely emulated by our domestic competition."
"With but one month remaining in 1993, it's increasingly evident that Ford Motor Company will be the only major manufacturer to achieve share gains in both the car and truck markets for the second consecutive year. We're confident that extending that unmatched streak to three years in 1994 is an achievable goal, based on initial public acceptance of our new 1994 products, and still more exciting new vehicles coming to our dealers' showrooms in the months ahead."
