FORD INDIANAPOLIS EMPLOYEES BEGIN BUILDING PARTS FOR EXPORT TO EUROPE
Ford Motor Company's (NYSE: F) Indianapolis Plant is going global.
Steering components produced at the Indianapolis Plant -- in the center of Middle America -- soon will be on their way across the Atlantic Ocean to be used in Ford cars and trucks in Europe.
It's the first time Indianapolis Plant employees have participated in an international venture, and the plant is hosting a ceremony this Monday, Sept. 28, to begin the multi-million-dollar program.
Ford Executive Vice President Alex Trotman, Indiana Gov. Evan Bayh and Indianapolis Mayor Stephen Goldsmith will be on hand to push the button that will begin the global production line.
Ford recently renovated 180,000 square feet inside the plant to set up new production lines to assemble steering gears, steering columns and power steering pumps for several Ford vehicles in Europe and North America, resulting in hundreds of new jobs.
The Sept. 28 program begins with coffee and rolls at 9:30 a.m. You'll have the opportunity to tour the plant and see the new production lines following brief remarks from Ford and government officials and representatives of the United Auto Workers.
The Indianapolis Plant is located at 6900 English Ave. Please park in front of the plant in the visitor's lot and enter through the main lobby.
