 FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTIONS
DEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statements may

be attributed to John P. King, Parts and Service Engineering Office manager, Ford Parts and Service Division:
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is announcing a voluntary safety recall involving approximately 52,800 1992 model year 7.3L diesel F-Series trucks to remove a portion of the sound insulation material that is mounted on the dash panel in the engine compartment. In some vehicles, insufficient clearance between the exhaust manifold and the dash panel insulator may result in heat damage to the insulator. Laboratory testing indicates that exhaust manifolds can produce temperatures high enough to result in damage to the dash insulation material. In rare cases the temperatures potentially could ignite the insulation.
Owners will be notified by mail and asked to return the vehicles to their dealers for the modification.
About 5,200 of these vehicles are located in Canada.
 ------------
Ford also is announcing a voluntary safety recall involving about 20,000 1991-1992 Ford Escort GT/LXE and Mercury Tracer LTS vehicles to inspect and possibly replace the fuel pump/sender assembly.
A solder joint in the fuel pump/sender assembly may crack, possibly resulting in fuel leakage.
Owners will be notified by mail and asked to return their vehicle to the dealer for inspection and possible replacement of the fuel pump.
