FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTION

DETROIT, Aug. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Owners of certain 1993 Mark VIII vehicles are being notified by Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) of two customer service programs.
Under the first program, about 8,500 Mark VIII owners are being asked to return their vehicles to their dealership for service on the throttle position sensor. Operators of these vehicles may experience a no-start condition, irregular transmission shifts, a high engine idle, and/or a malfunction indicator light due to water intrusion into the throttle position sensor. About 300 of the vehicles covered by this program are located in Canada.
Under the second program, about 14,600 Mark VIII owners are being asked to return their vehicles to their dealership for service on the suspension ride height sensor. Operators of these vehicles could experience a change in vehicle attitude from front to rear and side to side due to possible water leakage into the ride height sensor. About 700 of the vehicles covered by this program are located in Canada.
All owners are being notified by mail of the availability of these service programs free of charge from Lincoln-Mercury dealers. Both programs apply to some vehicles. These actions are voluntary and are being undertaken as part of Ford's ongoing commitment to satisfy its customers. Neither program is a safety recall.
