FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTION

DETROIT, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Owners of 1990-91 E-250 Econoline cargo vans equipped with optional heavy duty suspensions are being notified today by Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) of a voluntary safety recall to replace the rear shock crossmember used on these vehicles.
If operated frequently with light loads, the vehicle's rear shock crossmember may crack. Over time, the crossmember could fracture and separate from the vehicle's frame rail. A separated crossmember could damage the brake fluid line or the fuel line.
Ford is aware of no accidents, injuries, or fires related to this condition. To date, only fleet vehicles have been affected; no reports have been received on non-fleet vehicles.
Owners are being notified of this program by mail. Ford dealers will perform this service without charge. About 25,000 vehicles are included in this action, of which 1,789 are located in Canada and 405 are export vehicles.
