FORD ANNOUNCES SERVICE ACTION

DEARBORN, Mich., Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The following statement may be attributed to John P. King, manager, Parts and Service Engineering Office, Ford Parts and Service Division:
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is notifying owners of a customer satisfaction program involving 1993 Ford Taurus SHO vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions.
Owners will be notified by mail and asked to return the vehicles to their dealers to have the automatic transmissions replaced at no charge.
It is possible that the vehicle transmissions may develop slippage in third gear due to a folded or torn seal within the transmission.
Ford dealers are being asked to offer pickup and delivery of vehicles, and to provide loaner vehicles and other services at no charge to the customer.
About 1,200 vehicles are involved in this program.
